Hamble Aquathlon 2009 Huge Success

 On a sunny 19th April at Hamble Community Sports College, nearly 90 young athletes,triathletes and swimmers form across the south east of England competed in various age groups ranging from 8 to 16 years old in a variation of Triathlon called Aquathlon (swim then run).

The event held at the college is an annual event organised by ChapelTristars a local junior’s only triathlon club (based at Hamble Sports College). The race is the first part of the clubs 10th anniversary celebrations along with a Triathlon to be held at Wildern Secondary School on the 29th August 2009 and the soon to be launched updated website. The event has been an established part of the Triathlon England’s South East Region multisports series for a number of years. The club has also organised various events, ranging from rowathlons to duathlons and aquathlons and is currently organising their first ever junior triathlon which is also part of TESE region triathlon series. The young athletes raced over various distances ranging from a 40m swim and 750 run for 8 and 9 year olds up to a 600m swim and 5000m run for 15 and 16 year olds.All the athletes received medals and goodie bags (which included the latest fashionable sunglasses). All 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed finishers received a trophy for winning their respective age groups along with a team award for the highest finishing club/school team. The club would like to thank all athletes and parents for their support of the event and special thank you goes to our sponsor for the day Tew Brother’s Building Contractors who have continually supported the club for a number of years.
